Stand Up
As a stand up C.J. Strickland has been funny for money, with comic ‘bits’ broadcast nationally across the Austereo radio network. He's played rooms in Berlin and A-List venues across Sydney - including once when he got lucky and MC’d for Chris Rock (thankfully nobody got slapped).
Over the 2.5 years he ran his successful 100 seat stand up room (Saturday Night Comedy - declared ‘a Sydney institution’ by the Sydney Morning Herald), he was proud to produce shows which featured talents like Wil Anderson.
While the bulk of Strickland’s stand-up days are behind him as he focuses on YA/ Crossover fiction, he’s grateful for the ability his years of stage time gave him to hone his comedy writing before audiences.
The Tiny Girlfriend song (below) has been part of many stand up sets, and is included here with an incredibly low-fi film clip. Audio production with the aid of the talented Patrick Mangan.
